How this page works
Please feel free to add software titles that you think should be included in the place you think it should go. If you are not sure whether a piece of software could be inappropriate for some reason put it under possibility and include the reason you are unsure such as the mcafee example.
If you have a custom version that you can provide that has extra features of customisations specific to our schools please put a note with it saying what you can offer such as the Open Office example.
Please put in the size of the program as well.
Distribution
Please add suggestions on how to best package and distribute an Open CD to students, staff and public in this section.
Bob Kerr attempted to get OpenCDs into his local libraries in Scotland in 2003. He was very successful, but he learnt a lot about libraries and their needs in the process. Many school libraries, particularly in rural areas are joint use and are open to the public. His article about getting open source into public libraries contains useful insights. He also wrote a document which is almost a blueprint for distributing an OpenCD in Libraries
